When developing a learning plan, the first step is to conduct a needs analysis. This will include what the student is required to learn in the rotation as well as what the individual would like to accomplish. This can be completed through reviewing the evaluation sheet and proficiencies at beginning of rotation with students.
Questions to keep in mind are: What does the student want to learn? What skills do they want to grow or develop? What do they want to improve?
Work with the student to answer these questions. Once answers are collected, work together to turn these into SMART goals.
